Dear Partner, I was watching on the news some of the recent broadcast of two cases being argued at the United States Supreme Court. Both had to do with the subject of legalized marriage for homosexuals and lesbians. The first had to do with the constitutionality of a measure called "Proposition Eight" that was approved by the majority of voters in California banning legalized marriage of same sex couples there. The other had to do with the constitutionality of DOMA, the "Defense of Marriage Act" which defines legal marriage as only being between one man and one woman. They didn't broadcast major portions of the arguments on television, but the portions I saw were almost laughable. Those who were standing up for morality were using arguments like, "Same sex couples cannot have children." One of the judges replied, "It's not likely that heterosexual couples over the age of fifty five will have children either. Should we deny them the right to be married on that same basis?" Silly arguments like this were bantered back on forth on both days and I saw what was happening ... nobody was willing to take a stand based on the core issue … What does God say on the subject? The enemy has done such a superb job over the years of discrediting the bible (and Christianity in general), that neither the lawyers nor the judges were willing to say anything from the bible because in their mind … the bible no longer has authority regarding the establishment of law in America. As I was watching the telecast I kept hearing the following verse in my spirit: Psalm 11:3 If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? What is the foundation of all truth? Jesus once and for all eternity gave us the definition of what TRUTH is: John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. The laws of this nation were written by our forefathers based on the truth of God's Word. Many today would have us believe that our founding fathers were not Christians and that they gave no reverence to the Word of God. They are woefully ignorant of the writings of those men who risked their very lives to create a nation that was free to worship God without coercion from the government. Why do we have laws against stealing, perjury, extortion, and so forth? Because those things are plainly called SIN in the bible. How do we know that homosexual and lesbian behavior is sin? Because the bible plainly says so, both in the Old and the New Testaments. Lev 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. Rom 1:26-27 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. None of the lawyers I watched on television could argue the TRUTH before the Supreme Court by saying, "Same sex marriage cannot be legalized because the bible says it is sin." The foundation of TRUTH in this country has been destroyed. What can the righteous do? That's a really good question. What can we do? One thing I know for sure is … we cannot compromise by changing the truth into a lie. Isa 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! We are to stand strong, united, speaking as with one voice the TRUTH of God's Word … no matter if the world persecutes us or not. No matter if the world hates us or not. Jesus Himself warned us that we would be hated of all people for His name's sake: Mat 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved. The foundation of TRUTH, God's Word, will never be destroyed. Jesus is the Word of God made manifest in the flesh. No matter what kingdoms arise or fall over the centuries one thing is for sure … God's Word will never change. What can the righteous do in a nation where the foundations have been destroyed? We can be salt, and light, and love to this lost generation. God's love is eternal but it is not the squishy kind of love that has no shape or form. God's love was made manifest among men in the person of Jesus Christ. He said, Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Sue and I love you and appreciate you. We thank God for your generous and giving heart. God bless you! Your friend and co-laborer,
